UNSW SOVS Senior Lecturer, Dr. Daisy Shu, was a distinguished panelist at the BrightFocus Foundation Congressional Briefing on Health Equity held on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, USA in June 2023. This event highlighted the crucial need for robust funding and increased diversity in research to combat brain and vision diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Macular Degeneration, and Glaucoma. Dr. Shu served as the expert on macular degeneration and joined a panel of esteemed scientists, thought leaders, and advocates, alongside policymakers, to address the importance of inclusive clinical trials and outreach.
