The UNSW Medicine & Health community came together to explore what research impact means from discovery through to improved health outcomes.
On 28 November 2023, over 200 health researchers from our community attended HealthX: Understanding and Developing Impact, in Sir John Clancy Auditorium at UNSW Sydney. Following the inaugural HealthX symposium in February this year, focused on future research and impact, the discussions now focused on what impact truly means at different stages of research.
The program consisted of a mix of keynotes and panel discussions exploring different types of impact, from advancing basic/discovery science, to translating research to improved health incomes, and influencing policy and informing decision making. There was also a dialogue between UNSW researchers and traditional knowledge holders about collaborative and community-driven research to benefit Indigenous health.
All of the sessions were recorded and are available to watch online.
