Last month, Associate Professor Martin Andersen from the UNSW Water Research Laboratory visited Walgett to work with the Ngarrangarra-li Walaaybaa River Rangers to measure and monitor water quality in the Namoi and Barwon rivers.
This will contribute to the rangers' ability to manage Walgett's rivers, with a DEG ranger team member commenting, 'It was really helpful to have Martin visit Walgett to run training on measuring water quality in the Barwon and Namoi rivers. We can now work more effectively towards healthier rivers in Walgett and more quickly respond to things like fish kills and algae blooms.'
