On Tuesday 12 March the School of Mathematics and Statistics hosted its annual prize-giving ceremony to award an exceptional group of undergraduate and honours students from the 2023 round of prizes.

Prizes ranged from those acknowledging best performance in their year, best in discipline, high achieving students in the 2023 Simon Marais Maths Competition, donor sponsored awards, and more.

Two students won multiple awards: Asm Shahriar Ifti won both the Head of School's Prize and the Prize for Level 3 Applied Mathematics; while Hau Hang Jeffrey Hui won three prizes - the School's Prize for 1st Year Actuarial Mathematics, the IMC Financial Markets Prize for outstanding achievement in MATH1151, and the IMC Financial Markets Prize for MATH1251.

Certificates were conferred to the outstanding group of students by Head of School Professor Adelle Coster, and IMC representatives Alex Patterson and Hannah Brandon who presented prizes sponsored by IMC Financial Markets. Recipients enjoyed a morning tea with School members afterwards.
