We are excited and proud to share a recent achievement at the Ramaciotti Centre for Genomics, showcasing an example of the impactful outputs from our high-quality data and the diverse expertise of our staff, with strong ties to the science community.
In a study recently published by Fabian et al. (2024), our team performed the transposon-directed insertion site sequencing (TraDIS). The Ramaciotti Centre is the only high-throughput service provider offering TraDIS worldwide! One of our staff members, Christie, is a co-author of this study, having contributed to this project as part of her previous role at Macquarie University.
Fabian et al. utilised a TraDIS-based approach to conduct genome-wide analysis of the fitness of thousands of gene mutations in the bacterium Pseudomonas protegens Pf-5 under culture conditions promoting "swimming" motility. The team identified a suite of genes important for swimming, which is a key trait for this microbe's effectiveness as a biocontrol agent against agricultural crop plant diseases.
