The Early Career Academic (ECA) Startup Fellowship, supported by UNSW Engineering and TRaCE, is a transformative program designed to help academics become entrepreneurs. Delivered by UNSW Founders, the fellowship empowers researchers to translate their groundbreaking work into products and services that benefit humanity. Specifically developed for fixed-term engineering postdocs, the fellowship covers the recipient’s full-time salary, enabling them to focus on transforming their research into valuable innovations.
This year, the ECA Startup Fellowship officially commenced on 1 October 2024, and we are thrilled to congratulate Dr Shuang Song from the School of Chemical Engineering as one of the thirteen outstanding recipients. Dr Song’s project focuses on Lithium-Ion battery recycling technology, a critical innovation aimed at addressing the environmental challenges of battery waste while contributing to a sustainable energy future.
The ECA Startup Fellowship offers researchers a unique opportunity to stop wondering what it’s like to be an entrepreneur and instead, become one. By providing funding, mentorship, and support, the program highlights UNSW’s commitment to fostering groundbreaking research translation.
