The awardees, Jini Gao and Guo En (Joseph) Shao, will both commence their Honours studies in Term 1, 2025.

Two candidates are selected for this scholarship annually, which is based on exceptional academic performance and provides $5,000 per awardee.

Jini is a third year Advanced Maths/Actuarial Studies student, and Guo En (Joseph) is a fourth year Advanced Mathematics/Computer Science student. Both students received outstanding marks throughout the year.

"I have always enjoyed mathematics, and over the last three years, I have been fascinated by the fulfillment that learning new knowledge and solving challenging problems can bring to me", said Jini.

"This Honours scholarship has encouraged me to continue to put my best effort in my thesis and coursework during the Honours year, as well as to take this opportunity to delve deeper into a research topic in mathematics that interests me the most", she said.

“I have always enjoyed mathematics and its applications to everything around me", said Guo En (Joseph).

"The Honours year will be a great opportunity to research into the topics I have learnt throughout the years, and gain more knowledge about statistics and its applications to the real world. I am incredibly thankful to the School for providing me with this scholarship, and I am excited to see what next year will have in store for me”, he said.

A very big congratulations to Jini and Guo En (Joseph) - we wish them both all of the very best for their Honours year!
