Tanzina Akter, a current PhD student, under the supervision of Professor Mark Willcox and Scientia Professor Fiona Stapleton has been honoured with the prestigious "Joe and Janet Barr Early Career Cornea and Contact Lens Research Award - 2024" from the American Academy of Optometry Foundation (AAOF).
This highly competitive award, established in 2012, recognizes postgraduate student who has made outstanding contributions to vision science and contact lens research. Tanzina received this award for her translational research focused on Pseudomonas aeruginosa keratitis, a severe eye infection.
