UNSW Law & Justice has achieved Australia's top position in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject: Law & Legal Studies. This marks the Faculty's first #1 ranking since QS commenced evaluating universities by subject.
The Faculty earned exceptional scores for graduate reputation among employers and research quality. UNSW Law & Justice Dean, Professor Andrew Lynch, stated that the ranking clearly acknowledges the high standards set by the Faculty staff for themselves and their students.
"Every single member of the Faculty should feel immensely proud of how consistently we perform in international rankings, but especially today when we are recognised as first in Australia," Prof. Lynch said.
Globally, the Faculty held the #12 position it attained last year, maintaining its place as one of the youngest legal institutions ranked among those established more than a century ago.
Overall, the 2025 QS Rankings assessed 401 legal education providers worldwide. The subject rankings help prospective students identify leading schools, with the list of subjects extended each year in response to the high demand for comparisons at this level. The global QS Subject Rankings were launched in 2011 and are published annually.
