This initiative, coordinated by the PLuS Alliance, the Permanent Okavango River Basin Water Commission (OKACOM) and Okavango Research Institute (ORI) aims to advance conservation and sustainable management of one of the world’s last free-flowing rivers.

UNSW is one third of the PLuS Alliance along with Arizona State University and King's College London. Prof Richard Kingsford, Prof David Keith, Dr Tempe Adams and Dr Neil Jordan from the Centre for Ecosystem Science attended the workshop as UNSW representatives of the PLuS Alliance.

Participants focused on identifying ecosystem types and services throughout the Cubango-Okavango River Basin (CORB) in Angola, Botswana and Namibia, including the World Heritage Listed Okavango Delta. Workshop attendees discussed threats and relevant indicators for monitoring biodiversity, water resources, and climate change impacts.
