We are delighted to announce that Dr Nayuta Yoshioka has been promoted to Senior Lecturer (Education-Focussed) at UNSW School of Optometry & Vision Science.

Yoshi is a passionate educator dedicated to making optometry education relevant, engaging, and innovative. His teaching spans key areas including myopia management, ophthalmic dispensing, and foundational vision sciences, where he consistently brings fresh perspectives and student-centred approaches to the classroom.

His research focuses on transformative educational practices, with a particular interest in:

  • Integrating generative AI into teaching and assessment,
  • Leveraging advanced imaging and augmented reality to enhance clinical training,
  • Innovating methods to quantify hand hygiene effectiveness in healthcare education.

Yoshi’s commitment to excellence has been recognised through prestigious accolades such as the Dean’s Award for Education Excellence (2020) and the completion of the Graduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching (GCULT, UNSW, 2021).
