ICFHS student highlights new findings for people with Parkinson’s in Latin America
Published on the 01 October 2025
ICFHS higher education student Christine Jeyachandran has published the first qualitative study capturing the perspectives of people with Parkinson’s across Latin America. Funded by the Michael J. Fox Foundation, the study identifies stigma, limited services, and a lack of symptom recognition by health professionals as major barriers to care, and calls for global collaboration to improve health outcomes, training of health professionals, and the co-design of a resource kit to support people with Parkinson’s and their families. Christine has been supervised by ICFHS Emeritus Professor Mark Harris and researcher Dr Catherine Spooner.
