This month, the UNSW Cities Institute, in partnership with the City Futures Research Centre, participated in the UNSW Productivity Showcase at Parliament House, Canberra.
At the showcase, Professor Hoon Han, Director of the UNSW Cities Institute, demonstrated how VR, EEG (electroencephalogram) and generative AI (MapAI) can address housing challenges—capturing real perceptions and lived experiences to support the uptake of Modern Methods of Construction, including modular housing.
We were pleased to have Susan Templeman, MP for Macquarie, Sally Sitou, MP for Reid and Hon. Jason Clare, Minister for Education, join us and experience our VR modular housing. And thanks to Professor Patricia Davidson and Professor Ganga Prusty for their amazing idea and insightful conversation.
Our showcase of the theme “Fixing Housing through Smart Cities” drew great interest from visitors throughout the day. The event brought together leaders from government, academia, and industry, providing an opportunity to explore innovative solutions for urban housing and the future of cities.
