Several PhD students and post doctoral researchers from AOM Lab recently presented their research at GWI Water@UNSW Symposium
On Friday 24th October early career researchers from AOM Lab participated in the Global Water Institute Water@UNSW Symposium. This annual event provides a venue for UNSW water researchers to present their work to the water community and aims to promote cross-disciplinary water research at UNSW. On the day there was a diverse range of water-related topics covered, including environmental contaminants, urbanisation impacts on rainfall, biosolids management, innovative water treatment technologies, coastal and shoreline resilience, and sustainable water solutions for climate adaptation.
The AOM participants did a fantastic job of presenting their work with their topics below:
Title |
Presenter |
Influence of Bubble Size on Ozonation Efficiency on C. vulgaris Cell Inactivation |
Ms Kanruethai (Amy) Charoensook |
Integrating cyanotoxin detection using LC-MS Triple Quadrupole with cell viability assessment |
Dr Fitri Widhiastuti |
Beyond Source Water: Diagnosing and Controlling Algal Accumulation within DWTPs |
Ms Mengxi Zhang |
Quantifying Groundwater Contributions to CO₂ and CH₄ Emissions in Manly Creek, Sydney |
Ms ZeinabBano AhaniAmineh |
Optimising Coagulation and Flocculation for Improved Water Treatment Under Dirty Water Conditions |
Dr Nashwa Eltahhan |
The event also included a keynote by AOM Lab alumni, Dr Yulia Shutova on the opportunities and challenges in transitioning between academia and industry. She highlighted that the skills developed in academia are often valuable in industry and it is important to network to understand industry needs. Thank you to Naras Hanumanth Rao and the GWI team for organising the event.
