At UNSW Business School, we are committed to providing inclusive access to educational experiences that help young people explore their potential beyond the classroom.

In 2025, this commitment led to the pilot of our new two-day outreach program “BizQuest: Unlock Your Future Potential,” designed specifically for motivated Year 10 and 11 students from the Greater Western Sydney region.

BizQuest offers students the chance to step into a hands-on, immersive introduction to the world of business. Throughout the Bootcamp, participants collaborate on real-world business challenges, engage in creative problem-solving, and experience what studying business at university can look and feel like in a practical sense.

In this article, Year 10 student Maanya Indudhar shares her personal reflection on the program. A firsthand account of what can happen when a student says “yes” to an opportunity like BizQuest. Maanya’s experience highlights how the program can spark ambition, build confidence, and broaden pathways for the future.

Whether you are curious about entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, technology, social impact, or simply hope to understand university life more deeply, BizQuest provides an inspiring first step for any high school student looking to say “yes!”.

Have you ever wondered what actually happens behind the scenes of the business world? How ideas become companies, how brands stand out, or how possibilities turn into real achievements?

If you’ve ever felt even a tiny spark of interest in any of that, then BizQuest is exactly the kind of program that can turn that spark into something much brighter.

BizQuest is designed for ambitious Year 10 and 11 students and gives you a rare chance to step into a space where creativity, strategy, innovation, and collaboration all collide. Unlike a typical school workshop, it’s more hands-on, more interactive, and definitely more immersive.

From the moment you arrive, you’re surrounded by students who are just as curious, driven, and open-minded as you.

Conversations start naturally. Ideas bounce around. Perspectives shift. By the end of the program, most people walk away with new friendships, new contacts, and a clearer idea of the pathways they might explore in the future. Networking suddenly feels effortlessly natural, rather than intimidating.

Throughout the sessions, you take part in practical activities that show you what business looks like in action. You explore how ideas evolve, how problems are solved, how strategies are shaped, and how to express your vision with confidence.

The workshops are designed to challenge you, stretch your thinking, and unlock skills you might not even realise you already have. It’s immersive, dynamic, and surprisingly fun.

One of the most meaningful parts of BizQuest is hearing from guest speakers; professionals who share real stories about their journeys. Their experiences reveal something important: business isn’t just one straight pathway.

It’s a huge landscape filled with options:

  • Entrepreneurship
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Tech
  • Management
  • Innovation
  • Social impact
  • …and so much more.

You start to realise that there is no single “type” of business student. There are countless possibilities, and you can shape your own path in a way that reflects who you are and what matters to you.

The program is organised by passionate industry experts and friendly UNSW student ambassadors.

Their enthusiasm gives you a genuine glimpse into the supportive, energetic learning culture UNSW is known for.

UNSW’s consistent ranking as one of Australia’s leading universities for Business adds even more credibility to the program and makes the whole experience feel both inspiring and worthwhile.

A Quick Challenge to Activate Your “Business Brain”

If you want a taste of how BizQuest gets you thinking, try this simple exercise, presented by Nina Juhl, Senior Manager (Curiosity Programs), UNSW Founders, during the Bootcamp:

  1. List as many everyday problems as you can.
  2. Think about school, home, your community, or online life.
  3. Brainstorm innovative solutions for each problem.
  4. No idea is too big or too small at this stage.
  5. Use a simple vetting process.
  6. Ask yourself: Which ideas are both unique and realistic?

The golden rule? Don’t fall in love with your first idea.

Stay open, flexible, and willing to build on other people’s creativity. That’s often where the best solutions appear.

If you’re unsure about saying “yes” to something like BizQuest, here’s what I’d say:

If you’re ready to explore new pathways, learn new skills, and surround yourself with people who are just as ambitious and curious as you, BizQuest 2026 is your opportunity.

The program is completely free, but the experience, confidence, and connections you gain are truly invaluable.

Wishing you growth, inspiration, and success as you continue shaping your journey.
