Congratulations to world-class researcher and inclusion champion, Prof Murad Tayebjee
We are thrilled to announce that Associate Professor Murad Tayebjee has been appointed as the new Associate Dean (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) for the Faculty of Engineering.
Murad is a familiar face within our community, currently leading a research group in the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering (SPREE). His career has spanned prestigious global institutions, including a Marie Sklodowska Curie Fellowship at the University of Cambridge and an ARENA Postdoctoral Fellowship at UNSW.
Murad brings a deeply human-centric approach to academic leadership. His commitment to inclusion is evidenced by his impactful work outside the lab:
Narrowing Achievement Gaps: As an Associate Investigator of STEP UP, he works to bridge educational achievement gaps through a consortium of educators.
Community Engagement: He has spearheaded projects specifically designed for socioeconomically disadvantaged high school students.
Award-Winning Educator: Recognized for his excellence in teaching, he was recently part of the team that won the nation’s best "Teaching and Learning Experience" at the 2025 AFR Higher Education Awards for the innovative Play Platform.
Beyond his EDI leadership, Murad is a world class researcher focused on designing new solar energy harvesting devices. His work uses ultrafast laser spectroscopy to understand light matter interactions, aiming to create more efficient, next-generation renewable energy technologies.
