UNSW Law & Justice has held Sydney's top position in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject: Law & Legal Studies.
Professor Andrew Lynch, Dean of UNSW Law & Justice, said the ranking affirms the exceptional standards the Faculty’s academics set for themselves and for their students year after year.
“We’re delighted to be consistently recognised as Sydney’s top law faculty and one of the very best in the world across both the QS and Times Higher Education global rankings," he said.
"This reflects the quality of our staff, the energy and accomplishments of our students and graduates, and the genuine substance of our collaborative partnerships.”
Globally, UNSW Law & Justice maintained its strong position from last year, placing joint 13th with its partner institution, UCL in London. In Australia, the Faculty placed first in Sydney and second nationwide.
Published research from UNSW Law & Justice also scored high for its productivity and impact, ranking first in Australia and seventh worldwide for H-index Citations.
The 2026 QS Rankings assessed more than 400 legal education providers worldwide. The rankings help prospective students identify leading schools, with the list of subjects extended each year in response to the high demand for subject-level comparisons.
The global QS Subject Rankings were launched in 2011 and are published annually. Visit the QS World University Rankings by Subject site for further details.
The 2026 Times Higher Education subject rankings, announced in January, also placed UNSW Law & Justice first in the state and second in Australia.
