UNSW has been named the world's top optometry school for research excellence, topping the latest Global Optometrist Top 200 Research Ranking and reinforcing its global leadership in eye health research.
The UNSW School of Optometry & Vision Science has been recognised as the world's leading optometry school for research excellence, achieving the top position in the latest Global Optometrist Top 200 Research Ranking (T200).
The T200 ranking, published at OptomRankings.com, assesses the research impact of optometrists worldwide using the h-index, a widely used measure of research productivity and influence. The ranking also identifies leading optometry schools globally based on the number of researchers affiliated with each institution who are included in the Top 200. This top institutional ranking is based on 17 UNSW optometrist researchers being within the top 200, with UNSW’s Professor Konrad Pesudovs ranked #1 (https://optomrankings.com/country-and-institution-analysis/).
Among an estimated 250 optometry schools worldwide, UNSW has now secured the number one position, ahead of several internationally renowned institutions.
The achievement reflects the strength and depth of UNSW's research community, built over decades through strategic investment in research excellence, the recruitment and development of leading academics, and a strong culture of innovation and collaboration.
The ranking acknowledges both current and historical contributions, recognising the collective impact of researchers who have been associated with the School throughout its history.
