ICFHS welcomes Professor Muhammad Hamid Zaman to strengthen global health collaboration

ICFHS was delighted to welcome Professor Muhammad Hamid Zaman, Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Global Health at Boston University, along with Adjunct Fellow Dr Elliot Brennan, for a visit to UNSW.  During the visit, the ICFHS team, including researchers, higher degree research students, professional staff and affiliates shared their research and perspectives with Professor Zaman, engaging in discussions on global health challenges, including the health impacts of displacement and conflict in the geopolitical environment. 

The visit also provided an opportunity to explore international collaborations focused on refugee health and the responsible use of emerging technologies in health settings.  Professor Zaman also shared insights from his work on the Lancet Commission on Health, Conflict and Forced Displacement, including the need for locally informed decision-making and ethical approaches to technology and artificial intelligence in humanitarian contexts.
