A major recognition for SCoPE, celebrating Professor Yansong Shen’s pioneering research in sustainable solar panel recycling.
We are delighted to congratulate Professor Yansong Shen, Director of the UNSW SCoPE Lab for Green Metals, on receiving the 2026 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes for Sustainability Research.
The Eureka Prizes are among Australia’s most prestigious and widely recognised science awards, celebrating outstanding achievements in research, innovation, leadership and science engagement.
Prof Shen was recognised for his pioneering work on an innovative end-to-end process for recycling end-of-life photovoltaic solar panels, helping reduce waste and supporting a more circular and sustainable solar industry. This recognition is a wonderful milestone for Prof Shen and reflects his long-standing commitment to translating fundamental research into practical solutions for major sustainability challenges.
We also gratefully acknowledge the continued support of UNSW, the Faculty of Engineering and the School of Chemical Engineering, which together provide a strong environment for impactful research, collaboration and innovation.
