Her advice to anyone considering a double degree?

“Studying a double degree can open doors to many unique and unexpected opportunities. Don’t be scared to apply for them or to say yes, because it can take you to places you didn’t think were possible.”

What inspired you to pursue your double degree?

I have always loved being creative through art, sewing, knitting, and textiles, but I wanted to combine it with something else. Media is also very creative, and the two degrees have many transferrable skills. Studying a double degree opens doors to many more career opportunities.

What’s been the most rewarding part of studying two disciplines at once?

The most rewarding part of studying two disciplines is bringing skills from both areas into practical experiences like being a student ambassador and for things I am passionate about.

Through UNSW programs like Vertically Integrated Projects and Work Integrated Learning, I have brought skills from both disciplines into causes that I care about, such as sustainable transport and community service.

How do you balance the workload and mindset shifts between the two fields?

I rely on my calendar to plan my week. I like to set aside days for different aspects of my life, but I also plan to have flexibility days where I can catch up or rest.

I plan my courses around balancing between the two degrees so I don’t lose touch with one and so I can be on both Paddington and Kensington campuses.

Can you share a highlight of your time at UNSW?

Joining Sunswift Racing has been my highlight at UNSW. As the Media Lead, I gained hands-on experience, built my confidence, and learned a lot of new skills, and I even got to spend a month travelling across Australia for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.

I was drawn to the project by the sustainability aspect and Sunswift has become something I am really passionate about.

What are your post graduation plans?

I’m not sure yet! But I think that’s okay. There are many different pathways I can see myself going on. From studying in ADA and UNSW, I know that I will graduate with skills and experience that can take me to a career that I love.
