Racism in sport - forum

NRL chief executive David Gallop and Race and Disability Discrimination Commissioner Graeme Innes will join some of Australia's leading indigenous experts and sports commentators to discuss racism in Australian sport at a public forum at the University of New South Wales next week (Wednesday, 8 September).

This forum will explore the nature of racism in sport, and what the various sporting codes - in particular the NRL - are doing to address the problem. It follows the highly publicised media coverage of Timana Tahu's decision to walk out of the NSW State of Origin team as a protest against racist remarks made by a member of the coaching staff.

The forum is an initiative of the Indigenous Law Centre (ILC) at UNSW's Faculty of Law. The evening will be facilitated by ILC Director, Megan Davis.
