Academic staff at the BSU encourage applications from Honours, Masters by Research and PhD students in the field of psychology and medicine.

Prior to commencing the official UNSW application process please ensure you have completed the following:

Step one: Find your supervisor

Your supervisors will play an important role in your studies regardless of whether you are a Honours, Masters by Research or PhD student. When choosing a supervisor, you want to ensure that your project aligns closely with their research in order to reap the maximum benefit for your project. When applying to the BSU, your primary supervisor should be one of our researchers but you can combine your supervisory panel with researchers from other parts of UNSW or universities to create the best possible mix of expertise needed for your project. Possible supervisors can be found here.

Step two: Get your documents ready

Prior to contacting your desired supervisor, ensure that you have the following documents to express your interest: a cover letter addressing your desire to research within the BSU and outlining your project, a CV, and names and contact details of at least two referees.

Step three: Get in contact

When you have all your required documents, please send an email to your desired supervisor to express your interest in a Honors, Masters by Research or PhD position. Attach the relevant documents. After we have reviewed your EoI, we will contact you to let you know of the outcome of our assessment. Should we have capacity and decide you are a suitable candidate, we will ask your to follow the UNSW application process.

Step four: Apply to UNSW

The application process via UNSW will depend on what type of student you are. Find more information about courses on the UNSW website.
