This site explains how to work through the EBP process, and offers online EBP resources and case studies demonstrating use of EBP in action. The content will also be useful for any practitioner involved in the delivery of eye care including General Practitioners, Ophthalmologists, Orthoptists, Ophthalmic Nurses and other related health professions.

This website is one deliverable from a two-year, Australian Government-funded project (Office for Learning & Teaching) during 2012/2013. This collaborative project spanned the six Optometry schools across Australia and New Zealand and this collaboration resulted in the content of this site.

About us

Evidence-based practice involves clinical decision making using systematic evidence as well as clinical expertise and patient’s preferences, within the context of the workplace.

EBP process

When clinical decisions are made in an evidence-based manner, we can think of this process as taking place in five stages, or steps, as follows: Ask, acquire, appraise, apply and audit.
