Why invest
Robotic transplantation and increased use of marginal kidneys heighten thermal injury risk, making effective organ insulation essential for protecting vulnerable grafts during surgery.
iiShield’s Kidney Pyjamas help protect transplant organs from thermal injury during surgery.
-
iiShield’s KPJ is a surgical device designed to insulate transplant organs and reduce thermal damage during transplantation. In a first-in-human trial, it reduced organ temperature by 49%.
-
Donor kidneys are kept cold to preserve them while disconnected from blood supply. During implantation surgery, the kidney is exposed to body heat while the surgeon connects it to the recipient's blood vessels. The longer the surgery, the more the kidney warms up, the more it is harmed.
