Why invest

SONIA’s patented novel binder outperforms liquid PMB. Backed by a strong technical and commercial team, and early industry interest, it is ready for market adoption.

SONIA Green Technology is a climate tech company transforming road construction with pelletised polymer-modified bitumen (PMB).

Compared to traditional liquid PMB, SONIA PMB reduces energy usage, carbon emissions, and storage and transport costs. The team has completed product development and engaged major industry players for commercial trials.

  • SONIA has developed a patented pelletised PMB designed for direct integration into asphalt production. The solid-state format enables rapid dispersion at mixing temperatures without pre-blending, heating, or specialised storage infrastructure. This simplifies operations, enhances consistency, and ensures compliance with PMB performance specifications. SONIA operates a B2B model, supplying the product to asphalt producers, contractors, and road authorities.

    • Traditional PMB requires constant heating, which increases operational and logistics costs for asphalt producers and contractors.
    • It is energy-intensive, difficult to handle, and inconsistent in quality.
    • Asphalt manufacturers
    • Road contractors
    • Government road authorities
    • Raised AUD620K in pre-seed funding from Virescent Venture and UNSW
    • Completed product development and lodged a standard patent
    • In discussions with two major asphalt companies (Fulton Hogan and Asphaltech) and a construction company (John Holland) for pilot-scale commercial trials
    • Signed six Letters of Intent with potential customers.
