Dr. Allan Ared

Ph.D(Med), B.Optom(Hons.) GradCert(OcularTherapeutics), FAAO

After completing his internship in Atlanta, USA, Dr Ared graduated with honours from the School of Optometry and Vision Science at the University of NSW. He completed his PhD on the effects of eye rubbing in keratoconus via the Faculty of Medicine at UNSW. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics (GCOT) and was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) for his pioneering work in anterior segment ocular disease.

His practice is highly regarded in the treatment and management of complex corneal diseases, the fitting of specialty contact lenses for keratoconus, orthokeratology and ocular surface disorders. He is a member of the Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia, the Orthokeratology Society of Oceania, the Optometrists Association of Australia, and, for over twenty years, host of "All About Eyes," a weekly talk-back eye program on Sydney's Radio 2GB. Dr Ared is a credentialed examiner (CO) for CASA, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia, and a medical reviewer for several high-impact ophthalmic journals.
