Amus Goay received the B.Eng. (Honours) degree in mechanical engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, Australia, in 2021. He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from UNSW Sydney in 2025. He is currently a Research Associate at UNSW Sydney, where he is working on the Australia's Economic Accelerator (AEA) project. He also served as a Research Engineer at Ginigai, a UNSW spinout company, from March to December 2025.
His current research interests include backscatter communication, energy harvesting, passive RFID systems, metasurface-assisted wireless communications, non-convex optimisation, and machine learning-based wireless sensing for real-time, non-invasive detection and environmental monitoring. He has served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for premier international conferences, including IEEE GLOBECOM and IEEE RFID-TA, and as a reviewer for many flagship IEEE conferences. He also regularly reviews for leading IEEE journals, including IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and IEEE Transactions on Communications, for which he was recognised as an Exemplary Reviewer by IEEE Wireless Communications Letters in 2023.

- Research Engineer at Ginigai (UNSW Spinout), Sydney, Australia (March 2025 – December 2025): Designed CSI-based wireless sensing algorithms for occupancy monitoring in outdoor settings.
- PhD Research Scholar at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia (February 2021 – March 2025): Proposed novel modulation schemes and resource allocation strategies for passive backscatter communication systems, with a focus on maximising communication range and energy harvesting efficiency. Developed real-time machine learning-based wireless sensing algorithms for indoor localisation and occupancy counting using passive RFID tag arrays. Mentored 21 undergraduate and Master's students in wireless communication and sensing research.
- Research Assistant at Keysight Technologies x University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia (December 2023 – April 2024): Conducted time-domain terahertz spectroscopy for non-invasive detection of grass seeds embedded in wool. Developed a high-performance convolutional neural network architecture for accurate seed detection using terahertz imaging data.
