Mrs Anneka Ferguson

Anneka Ferguson (Arts/LLB(Hons), GDLP, Grad.Dip.Psych, M.IntLaw(Distinction) is a Senior Lecturer at the University of NSW Practical Legal Training program and has also worked as Solicitor with Walker Gibbs and King specialising in Property Law and previously in personal injury litigation in private and government practice. Anneka has been a teacher in the PLT (now at UNSW and previously at ANU) teaching trust accounting, professional ethics and transactional practice since 2007 and is a SFHEA, twice Fellow of the National Institute for the Teaching of Professionalism and Ethics, and recipient of a number of team and individual teaching awards including, most recently, the Australian Legal Education Awards Excellence in Teaching (Engagement), 2025 and UNSW Scientia Education Academy Exemplary Teaching Practice Award in the category of Using AI in Teaching and Assessment (2024) and the UNSW Award for Programs that Enhance Learning (2024). Anneka is Chair of the NSW Law Society Rural Issues committee and a member of the NSW Law Society’s Ethics Committee, as well as the Law Council of Australia’s Rural Regional Remote Committee and UNSW Academic Board. Anneka has also been an active participant in the NSW Law Society’s AI Taskforce in 2024 and the AML/CTF implementation consultation process in 2025. Anneka provides legal professional training for regional NSW law societies and other providers on ethical use of AI and ethics in practice, and has also taught Trust Accounting Practice in UNSW Edge’s PMC. Anneka’s further academic publications and conference papers focus on the intersection of wellbeing, ethics and professionalism in law students and reflects her passion for adapting and responding to changing education needs of the profession.
