Dr. Chun-Chuen Billy Chan is a Lecturer in the Education Strategic Portfolio at UNSW Business School. With over 15 years of experience teaching English as a second or foreign language in Asia and Australia, he conducted his doctoral study that combined a social constructivist approach with learning sciences to investigate student learning of argumentation using infographics. His research focused on teaching and learning argumentation through infographics. Billy earned his PhD in Education from The University of Sydney, Australia, in 2022. His expertise in integrating learning sciences with curriculum and pedagogy planning and design coupled with his extensive teaching experience brings fresh and innovative perspectives to the study and understanding of the evolving dynamics in inter-, multi-, transdisciplinary education and research programs.

His primary research interests encompass:

  • Critical thinking and argumentation
  • Equity and inclusive education (i.e., lower SES)
