Professor Bogda Koczwara
I am a clinician researcher working to improve outcomes for people affected by cancer. Cancer survivorship can be a complex challenge for cancer survivors and their families. On one hand it is a gift of survival; on the other, a burden of physical, psychological and practical concerns, many of which are not well managed. My research aims to harness the expertise across diverse disciplines including epidemiology, clinical trials, psychooncology and implementation science, to develop innovative and effective solutions to these problems, together with people affected by cancer, clinicians, and policy makers.
I am honoured to serve as an inaugural Director of the Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship. The Centre, created through a joint investment of $40 million from UNSW and Cancer Council NSW, was established in 2024 with a focus on improving the care and wellbeing of cancer survivors through transformative and impactful research.
