Dr Wijeratne is a psychiatrist with expertise in severe mood disorders, neurocognitive disorders, including young onset dementia, and the assessment of capacity. He acts as a Health Assessor for the Medical Council of NSW and several other health professional councils, so has developed a special interest in the health of doctors and other health practitioners, and in the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law. He has been involved in research in a variety of areas, including chronic fatigue which was the subject of his postgraduate research degree, bipolar disorder and currently doctors' health.
