Dr Chris Campbell

Dr Chris Campbell is the Nexus Fellow at UNSW Canberra working across the city and ADFA campuses. Chris engages with staff in innovative learning and teaching. Her research area is in educational technologies to improve student learning and engagement, particularly in online learning. As a specialist in learning and teaching, innovation and online learning, Chris has previously conducted a university-wide evaluation of an implementation of an ePortfolio system, PebblePad. Chris has expertise in digital technologies and pedagogies and has a strong track record of researching new and emerging technologies in the online space.At a previous university Chris was tasked with implementing the micro-credentials and short courses strategy across the university which included working on a $1.1m Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Skills (TIES) NSW Department of Education funded project.

Chris was the President of ASCILITE for two x 2 year elected terms and was previously on the Executive for another 5 years prior. In December 2023 Chris became the 17^th Life Member of ASCILITE. Chris has been the co-lead of the TELAS portfolio since 2019 including implementing the framework and developing workshop training and assessment procedures. Chris also developed the Women in Academic Leadership initiative and was previously one of the leaders of that portfolio.

Currently Chris works in the Canberra School of Professional Studies at the Canberra City campus.

Previous research has included learning design and virtual worlds research on Second Life and the use of iPods in secondary schools. She has also previously been involved in an ARC Linkage Grant investigating middle years students' capacity for self-regulation. Her skills in implementing and trialing new technologies are documented in numerous publications in which she describes using online tools in educational settings, including LAMS, Second Life and Assistive eXtra Learning Environments (AXLE). Chris has a keen interest in online and mobile learning and has also published various papers pertaining to TPACK and mathematics education.

Chris has previously been a Queensland-Smithsonian Fellow where she looked at the Smithsonian Learning Lab and implications for teachers.
