Christine Linhart is a Senior Lecturer in Global Health who has worked in research and teaching in the School of Population Health at UNSW Sydney since 2011. During this time her primary focus has been working with Governments of low-to-middle income countries to strengthen their civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) systems and improve the quality of health data available to policymakers. Her work has involved extensive in-country time throughout the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia; and during 2015-2016 Christine was based in New Caledonia working for the Pacific Community. Christine regularly undertakes international consultancies for development partner organisations and is currently working with UN Women, UN ESCAP and Vital Strategies on a variety of projects in the Asia-Pacific region.
Christine has been involved in teaching across a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the Faculty of Medicine at UNSW since 2012. She also worked for New York University at their global campus in Sydney from 2016-2020 running their course 'UGPH-GU 9091 Health and Society in a Global Context'. Christine currently convenes and lectures into the Masters of Population Health and Global Health degrees as the convenor of 'PHCM9786 Global Approaches to Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes and Cancer Prevention' (approx. 60 students/term) and co-convenor of 'PHCM9794 Foundations of Epidemiology' (approx. 400 students/term).
