As a PhD candidate at UNSW, Diya's research project focuses on leveraging AI and machine learning to advance women's careers in the Australian construction industry. Additionally, she work as a casual academic, delivering construction management lectures and tutorials to over 800 undergraduate and postgraduate students, while also serving as a study skills support mentor and a research supervisor.

With more than 5 years of industry experience as a quantity surveyor, Diya brings practical insights to academia. As a research assistant on a government-funded, award-winning 'Women in Construction' project, she developed VR construction site tours, from on-site shooting to final production. The project has delivered over 400 workshops and presentations, reaching more than 4,000 high school students and nearly 2,000 community members. Her academic backgrounds include a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying from Bond University and a Master's degree in Research (Construction Safety) from Central Queensland University.

Diya is passionate about university teaching and research, and she find great fulfillment in mentoring students, sparking their curiosity, and guiding them through complex concepts. Diya is eager to have opportunities that bridge the gap between academia and industry, helping to foster the next generation of construction professionals.
