Dru is a practicing solicitor, public servant and researcher in the area of duties-based regulation. He is manager of internal reviews of remedial notices of a Victorian regulator.

Dru is a Visiting Fellow with the School of Business, UNSW Canberra and contributes to research within the Public Service Research Group.

Duties-based regulation, particularly in the areas of health and safety and environmental protection.
