Dr Gillian Barlow

Gillian has Kaurna and Barkindji heritage. She is a registered architect. She has worked mainly on Aboriginal housing and health buildings but also in housing for those who are ageing or who have a disability. She has worked in the public and private sectors as an architect and is a sole practitioner.

She worked at the University of Sydney in the Centre for Cultural Competence where she took interdisciplinary students to work with Aboriginal communities on projects the community instigated. She convenes and teaches in the first year Masters of Architecture course, ARCH7111, with IndigiGrow as client. Students explore 'Country' and Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub designing a Sustainability and Education Centre. 

Her PhD was with the University of Western Sydney's Writing and Society and was on Aboriginal housing. 

She has a MA (Hon) in Media and Communication.
