School of Chemistry

Lachlan B. Cox is a postdoctoral researcher in the School of Chemistry and UNSW RNA Institute at UNSW Sydney. His research focuses on supramolecular chemistry, chemical biology and nucleic acid nanotechnology. He develops molecular tools to understand and control non-canonical nucleic acid recognition, structure, and self-assembly. He has worked in peptide-nucleic acid recognition, bioconjugation, and light-responsive biomolecular materials.

After completing a Bachelor of Medicinal Chemistry (Hons) at UNSW in 2022, Lachlan undertook his PhD in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Pall Thordarson and Dr. Felix Rizzuto, including a research internship at McGill University, supervised by Prof. Maureen McKeague. He began his postdoctoral research under Dr. Felix Rizzuto at UNSW in 2026, where he is developing new synthetic methods for programmable nucleic acid functionalisation and applying them to responsive materials and chemical biology.
