Dr Linh Nguyen  is a Lecturer with the UNSW Centre for Social Impact. Linh’s research and educational endeavours are driven by an aspiration to catalyse positive societal impact and meaningful changes. Her deep passion centers on teaching and researching matters of social significance, particularly exploring how these challenges can be effectively tackled through entrepreneurship and innovation. Linh has researched and worked for over a decade with social impact businesses in Australia, Vietnam and other countries in Southeast Asia. Additionally, Linh has engaged in various initiatives that aimed at enhancing the social and economic participation of disadvantaged populations including people with disabilities, women and young people in the region.

Linh’s research focuses on the intersections of social impact, social entrepreneurship, women’s entrepreneurship, social impact strategy and measurement, as well as the teaching and learning of social entrepreneurship and Work Integrated Learning (WIL). She is passionate about producing research that not only contributes to academic knowledge but also informs practice. 

Linh actively collaborates with industry, community partners and other stakeholders to foster meaningful connections that bridge academic excellence with real-world impact. Her teaching and research reflect a deep commitment to driving positive changes and contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive world.

Linh is deeply committed to research that addresses socially significant challenges, with a focus on the intersections of social impact, social entrepreneurship, women’s entrepreneurship, social impact measurement and strategy, as well as the pedagogy of social entrepreneurship and Work Integrated Learning (WIL).

Her ability to produce high-quality, impactful research is evidenced by peer-reviewed publications in respected journals such as the Journal of Knowledge Management and the Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences. In addition to her scholarly publications, Linh has presented her research at leading international conferences in the fields of business, management, and entrepreneurship, including the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) Colloquium, the Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research Exchange (ACERE), and the International Association for Business and Society (IABS).

As an educator with a strong interest in experiential learning and WIL, Linh has also shared her teaching insights at several renowned teaching and learning conferences, including the Australasian Collaborative Education Network (ACEN), now known as Work Integrated Learning Australia, the Management and Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (MOBTS), among others.

Beyond traditional academic contributions, Linh has been actively involved in applied research. Notably, she collaborated on the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) funded Investing in Women initiative. Through this work, she contributed to a range of non-traditional research outputs, including factsheets and working papers on women’s entrepreneurship in Southeast Asia, helping bridge academic inquiry and practical impact.

My Research Supervision

As an educator with a strong interest in experiential and Work Integrated Learning (WIL), Linh has extensive experience teaching capstone courses such as Social Entrepreneurship, Strategy, Innovation and Management, and International Business across multiple universities, including the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales.

Currently, Linh is the Course Authority for the following courses at UNSW:

  • Social Entrepreneurship Practicum (COMM5030) - postgraduate level
