Logan is a Senior Lecturer of Biomechanics within the School of Health Sciences. He completed his PhD at the University of Queensland in 2019, after which he was employed at the University of Bath (UK) as a Research Associate and later a Research Fellow (2019–2026). Logan’s research focuses on the clinical applications of biomechanics, with a strong commitment to translating biomechanical methods into practice to improve injury prevention, diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment. A primary strand of his work uses AI-driven markerless motion capture to enable cost-effective and scalable biomechanical assessment of gait. He is also motivated to advance the understanding and monitoring of spinal disorders and back pain, areas that remain underserved within clinical biomechanics. His long-term goal is to equip coaches, clinicians, and researchers with accessible, user-focused biomechanical tools that support personalised interventions.

Logan's reseach activities bridge the gap between biomechanics, computer science and clinical applications, with aNparticular focus on

  • Near-realtime application of markerless motion capture for injury prevention, rehabilitation and performance
  • Application and automation of 3D ultrasound for bone segmentation
  • Creation of personalised musculoskeletal models, with specific focus on the spine
  • Disease management of patients living with back pain, ankylosing spondylitis, stroke and spinal cord injury
