Dr Lu Wang is a Lecturer in Law and a core member of the Herbert Smith Freehills China International Business and Economic Law (CIBEL) Centre. Her primary area of research interest is international and comparative economic law, with a particular focus on international investment law, international arbitration, State-owned enterprises (SOEs) and Chinese regulations of foreign trade and investment.
Lu joined the UNSW Law & Justice after completing two PhDs from the University of Liverpool in the UK and Xi’an Jiaotong University in China. Before that, she worked as a short-term temporary at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in Washington D.C. (2018) and was a Visiting Fellow at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law at the University of Cambridge (2014). Currently, Lu serves as an affiliated expert of the Asia-Pacific FDI Network and works closely with international organisations and key actors involved in the field of foreign investment.
Lu has engaged in a few major research projects in China as a core investigator and has published on cutting-edge issues in international investment law and arbitration in a number of reputed international and domestic journals. She has previously served as a co-guest editor of the ICSID Review for its first Special Focus Issue on SOE and international investment law.
