Dr Lucy Armitage
Lucy is an Education Focussed Lecturer at the School of Biomedical Engineering. She teaches engineering design and biomechanics.
Lucy completed her PhD in 2020 investigating factors affecting fit of prosthetic sockets in people with transtibial amputation. She is interested in designing and using sensing systems that can be easily implemented in clinical settings to provide clinicians with objective data to better understand how medical devices or sporting equipment interface with the human body.
Lucy has a background as a Physiotherapist and Biomedical Engineer and is passionate about cross disciplinary projects focussing on clinician or end user driven design of solutions to limitations in their clinical practice. She is currently involved in research projects working with clinicians and end users looking at prosthetic socket fit, diabetic foot management and breast injuries during sport.
