Summary

This thesis addresses the influence of literary adaptation on Iranian cinema. It investigates the role of contemporary Persian fiction at two key turning points of Iranian cinema: the rise of the New Wave cinema in the pre-revolutionary years of 1979 and the cycle of child-centered films through the post-revolutionary era.
