International Remittances and Inequality: Evidence from Bangladesh

Summary

The main research question of the study is whether foreign remittances to Bangladesh cause income inequality or not. Cross country evidence shows that remittances have both equalising and unequalising impacts on income distribution. At the same time, asset inequality has bearing on international migration, thereby impacting flows of remittances. The study will focus on the aspect of asset inequality as well.
