Dr Michaela Riddell

Dr Michaela Riddell is a multidisciplinary scientist with training in medical laboratory infectious diseases diagnostics and Public Health epidemiology and biostatistics. Based at Monash University, Melbourne 2009 she managed and implemented two large community-based intervention trials incorporating group peer support to assist with self-management of type 2 diabetes (Victoria) and hypertension (India). She joined UNSW in 2016 as the Senior Clinical Trial Coordinator for the WANTAIM trial, an investigation of the clinical and economical value, with respect to birth outcomes, of testing and treating pregnant women for sexually transmitted infections in 3 provinces in Papua New Guinea. She is skilled in community recruitment for research projects, statistical evaluation and is experienced in laboratory and epidemiological capacity building in Pacific Island countries and Papua New Guinea, most recently through the Strengthening Laboratory and Diagnostic Capacity in the Indo-Pacific (IndoPacLab) program. She currently provides and guides implementation and quality processes for the Asia and Pacific Health program's Elimination of Cervical Cancer in the Pacific and Papua New Guinea
