Dr Misarah Abdelaziz
Dr Misarah Abdelaziz is a Postdoctoral Fellow at UNSW’s Nuclear Innovation Centre, working in experimental nuclear thermal hydraulics.
Prior to joining UNSW, Misarah was a CERC Postdoctoral Fellow at CSIRO, where his research focused on improving the understanding and prediction of bushfire spotting through experimental investigation and modelling of firebrand transport. He led major upgrades to CSIRO’s Vertical Wind Tunnel, integrating automated flow control, advanced imaging and three-dimensional firebrand tracking capabilities.
His work combined experimental fluid mechanics, instrumentation, experimental facility development, data acquisition, computer vision and machine learning to better understand and predict firebrand transport and spotting behaviour.
Misarah holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Adelaide, an MSc in Mechanical Engineering (Heat and Mass Transfer), and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt.
