Dr Paris Jeffcoat

Research Associate
Science
Inst. Climate Risk & Response

Paris received her PhD in Chemistry from the University of Sydney in 2022 and has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University in the Department of Natural Resource Sciences. She is currently a Research Associate at the Institute for Climate Risk and Response (ICRR) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney.

Her interdisciplinary research explores the science-policy interface, integrating natural sciences with social and applied sciences. Employing social science methods and a One Health perspective in various regulatory science settings, her research focuses on: the drivers and impacts of the planetary boundary for novel entities (in particular, nanomaterials), New Approach Methods (NAMs) in regulatory (eco)toxicology, environmental health and policy, chemical and environmental governance systems (and how they respond to innovation, transition, or paradigm change), risk reporting and communication (in particular, climate-related financial disclosures).

Paris is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and has been a lecturer and course coordinator for multiple interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate units.

Prior to her current role, Paris worked as a Regulatory Scientist in the Department of Health at the Australian Industrial Chemicals Introduction Scheme (AICIS), contributing to chemical risk assessment, stakeholder consultation, the preparation of policy guidance materials, and legislative reform processes.
