Dr Pramudie Gunaratne

Dr Gunaratne is passionate about understanding the population level drivers that affect mental health and improving access to mental health services. She is currently the recipient of a Psychiatry Special Training Award from the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) and is completing a Fellowship in Intellectual Disability Neuropsychiatry at the Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN).

Dr Gunaratne completed a double degree in Medicine and International Relations at the University of New South Wales. She went on to finish a Master in Medicine (Psychiatry) at the University of Sydney and Master in Science (Public Health) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, from which she graduated with the University of London 150th Anniversary Prize for Academic Achievement and attained the top mark in her cohort.
 
Dr Gunaratne has undertaken her clinical training in psychiatry across multiple health networks across greater Sydney. She has been a consultant to the Brain Health Unit at the World Health Organization in Geneva where her work centred on improving research and diagnostic rates for dementia in low- and middle-income countries. She has also worked as the registrar to the Chief Psychiatrist in the New South Wales Ministry of Health. She is the co-founder of Seriph Clinics, a specialist private service caring for people with complex neuropsychiatric disorders and is on the Board of Directors for The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
