Dr Pramudie Gunaratne

Dr Gunaratne is passionate about understanding the population level drivers that affect mental health and improving access to mental health services. She is a research fellow at the Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry (3DN) and co-founder of Seriph Clinics, a specialist private service caring for people with complex neuropsychiatric disorders. She also recently served on the Board of Directors for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). 

Dr Gunaratne completed a double degree in Medicine and International Relations at the University of New South Wales. She went on to finish a Master in Medicine (Psychiatry) at the University of Sydney and Master in Science (Public Health) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, from which she graduated with the University of London 150th Anniversary Prize for Academic Achievement and attained the top mark in her cohort.

Dr Gunaratne completed her clinical training in psychiatry across multiple sites in Sydney and was awarded a Fellowship in Intellectual Disability Neuropsychiatry by the NSW Health Education and Training Institute. She has also previously worked as a consultant to the Brain Health Unit at the World Health Organization in Geneva and as the registrar to the Chief Psychiatrist in the New South Wales Ministry of Health. She has received multiple awards, including the World Psychiatric Association Early Career Psychiatrists Fellowship and has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.
