Rene is currently a PhD candidate and Lecturer at the School of Optometry & Vision Science at the University of New South Wales. She has previously taught in several undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Faculty of Medicine and Health and will convene the Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics course in 2024. Rene enjoys helping students gain confidence in applying new clinical skills and highlighting the real-world significance of course material. Her PhD thesis explores barriers and facilitators to accessing retinal imaging and image processing techniques for enhancing OCT interpretation in outer retinal disease, supervised by Dr Lisa Nivison-Smith and Dr Angelica Ly.
