Dr Russell Chander

Post-doctoral Fellow
Medicine & Health
Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA)

Russell is currently a Scientia PhD candidate and Research Assistant with the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) at UNSW School of Psychiatry. His work focuses on social cognition in healthy ageing and neurocognitive disorders, and how it might be influenced by genetics, hormones, and brain changes. He is currently supervised by Scientia Professor Perminder Sachdev. Russell graduated magna cum laude from the University at Buffalo with a double major in Psychology and Communications, and worked as a Clinical Research Associate at the National Neuroscience Institute in Singapore prior to joining CHeBA.

Throughout his career, Russell has worked in various impactful studies, from longitudinal observational studies to pharmaceutical trials and international research consortia. He has been involved in numerous publications focusing on a wide variety of topics such as healthy ageing, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, Parkinson’s disease, ischemic stroke, and autoimmune encephalitis. Russell’s work, which mainly focuses on early detection and prevention of neurocognitive disorders, has been exhibited on an international stage in numerous scientific conferences and public forums.
